Sold my Buick last month, sold my Beetle last week, but not before buying this three months ago: 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit.

Other than that, not too much going on in my neck of the woods...oh, I'm still single, btw.

Subject:Everything Is Awful and I’m Not Okay: questions to ask before giving up...with my response for today

Are you hydrated? If not, have a glass of water.
I had an iced tea refill from QuikTrip and some sodas today.

Have you eaten in the past three hours? If not, get some food — something with protein, not just simple carbs. Perhaps some nuts or hummus?
Past three hours?
I didn't really have much and struggle to find something to eat in the house. I ate some hot dogs when I got home from work.

Have you showered in the past day? If not, take a shower right now.
I showered this morning; I had to work today.

If daytime: are you dressed? If not, put on clean clothes that aren’t pajamas. Give yourself permission to wear something special, whether it’s a funny t-shirt or a pretty dress.
I'm still dressed in the same clothes I wore to work today.

If nighttime: are you sleepy and fatigued but resisting going to sleep? Put on pajamas, make yourself cozy in bed with a teddy bear and the sound of falling rain, and close your eyes for fifteen minutes — no electronic screens allowed. If you’re still awake after that, you can get up again; no pressure.
I need to get into pajamas. My sleep pattern tends to be unpredictable.

Have you stretched your legs in the past day? If not, do so right now. If you don’t have the spoons for a run or trip to the gym, just walk around the block, then keep walking as long as you please. If the weather’s crap, drive to a big box store (e.g. Target) and go on a brisk walk through the aisles you normally skip.
I had to work today and spent roughly half of the day pushing carts into the store.

Have you said something nice to someone in the past day? Do so, whether online or in person. Make it genuine; wait until you see something really wonderful about someone, and tell them about it.
I rarely give compliments to people anymore...even the most innocent, well-intentioned compliment can be considered sexual harassment.

Have you moved your body to music in the past day? If not, do so — jog for the length of an EDM song at your favorite BPM, or just dance around the room for the length of an upbeat song.
Music constantly plays in my head and most of the time, it gets quite annoying.

Have you cuddled a living being in the past two days? If not, do so. Don’t be afraid to ask for hugs from friends or friends’ pets. Most of them will enjoy the cuddles too; you’re not imposing on them.
Has anyone ever had to negotiate for a simple hug? I have...

Do you feel ineffective? Pause right now and get something small completed, whether it’s responding to an e-mail, loading up the dishwasher, or packing your gym bag for your next trip. Good job!
I have no response to this at this time.

Do you feel unattractive? Take a goddamn selfie. Your friends will remind you how great you look, and you’ll fight society’s restrictions on what beauty can look like.
Feel unattractive? I am so unattractive that I am not desired. I am so undesired that I haven't been on a date in over three years.

Do you feel paralyzed by indecision? Give yourself ten minutes to sit back and figure out a game plan for the day. If a particular decision or problem is still being a roadblock, simply set it aside for now, and pick something else that seems doable. Right now, the important part is to break through that stasis, even if it means doing something trivial.
As far as tomorrow is concerned, I have a lot of time to kill between work and Rocky Horror...and don't really have much to do.

Have you seen a therapist in the past few days? If not, hang on until your next therapy visit and talk through things then.
I don't have a therapist.

Have you been over-exerting yourself lately — physically, emotionally, socially, or intellectually? That can take a toll that lingers for days. Give yourself a break in that area, whether it’s physical rest, taking time alone, or relaxing with some silly entertainment.
I have to overexert just to exist on a day-to-day basis. As far as taking time alone, I have so much alone time that it gets old after a while.

Have you changed any of your medications in the past couple of weeks, including skipped doses or a change in generic prescription brand? That may be screwing with your head. Give things a few days, then talk to your doctor if it doesn’t settle down.
I am not taking any medications at this time, mainly because I don't want to end up in another drug rut.

Have you waited a week? Sometimes our perception of life is skewed, and we can’t even tell that we’re not thinking clearly, and there’s no obvious external cause. It happens. Keep yourself going for a full week, whatever it takes, and see if you still feel the same way then.
I don't always know how I'm feeling on a day-to-day basis...some days are better than others.

Subject:First post in over three years...

As of now, I am less than two months away from my 39th birthday...and still hopelessly single.

So far in 2015, I have purchased a car project, a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle. So far, I haven't done much to it other than install a new battery and an oil-bath air filter (not completely). I need to pull the motor and go through it and I have yet to get an inspection and title for it (I still have the original bill of sale as well as a copy of it. I would like to at least get the car running before VolksWeston 2015, but being on a somewhat shoestring budget, I need to be patient with the project.
